Accessibility Statement

Last updated September 1, 2026

Carpenter WebWorks builds websites for a living. A site that some people cannot use is a site that does not work, so we hold our own to the standard we sell.

The standard we are working to

We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the criteria most commonly referenced by US accessibility law and by the ADA guidance that applies to businesses like ours.

We have not been independently audited, so we do not claim full conformance. What follows is a self-assessment, current as of the date above. We would rather tell you where we actually stand than publish a conformance claim we cannot evidence.

What is in place

  • A skip link, so keyboard and screen reader users can jump past the navigation instead of tabbing through it on every page.
  • Semantic landmarks and a single ordered heading structure per page.
  • Full keyboard operation of the navigation, the domain search, and the intake form, with visible focus indicators.
  • Labels on every form field, tied to their inputs rather than implied by placeholder text.
  • Search results announced to screen readers as they arrive, rather than appearing silently.
  • Respect for the operating system’s reduce motion setting. When it is on, the scroll animations, the ambient glow, and smooth scrolling are all disabled, and content is shown in its final state rather than merely held still.
  • Text and interface colors chosen for contrast against the dark background.
  • Text that reflows without a horizontal scrollbar down to a 320 pixel viewport, and that survives browser zoom.

What we know is not yet verified

Listing these is the point of the statement. They are open items, not disclaimers.

  • No independent audit and no assistive technology testing by disabled users. Our checks are automated tooling plus keyboard and screen reader passes by the developer.
  • The industry preview on the home page is a complex interactive demonstration with modal dialogs. Focus management inside it has not been fully verified.
  • Some decorative and stock photography carries generic alternative text.
  • The client portal has had less accessibility attention than the public pages.
  • Third party components, including the payment form, are constrained by what those providers ship.

Tell us what is broken

If any part of this site blocks you, we want to hear about it, and we will treat it as a defect rather than a request.

(302) 524-9679

Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what happened. Mentioning your browser and any assistive technology helps but is not required. We respond within 5 business days and will tell you either that it is fixed or when it will be.

If you need something on this site in another format, or you need to reach us another way to get it, ask and we will arrange it.

How this stays current

We review this statement whenever the site changes materially, and at least once a year. When an item above is closed we move it out of the unverified list rather than quietly deleting it.
